Since 2012 the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business has supported the development of leadership education with the endowment of a research chair. Dr. Turner has held the chair since 2017.
Nick Turner, Future Fund Chair in Leadership
Healthy work is the research theme Dr. Nick Turner, PhD, explores as the Future Fund Chair in Leadership. Healthy work is work that promotes psychological well-being and physical safety. Many factors come together to create healthy work, including leadership, work design and occupational health and safety. His recent work focuses on the relationship between leadership and safety, young workers and safety, and the relationship between workplace injuries and mental health.
An accomplished scholar, Turner publishes many journal articles. Turner has also published pieces in The Conversation Canada. He is also an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Psychology, University of Calgary, and a member of the O'Brien Institute for Public Health.
Young Adult Development Study
With leadership development as a global priority, the Haskayne School of Business is exploring why, when, and how people emerge as leaders.
Generously supported by Cenovus Energy, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Haskayne Big Ideas Fund, the Young Adult Development Study is a multi-year research project that will be the first of its kind in Canada to follow young people and explore their leadership development.
The study aims to understand the personal and social factors that shape decision-making as youth become young adults. It will be conducted over a period of five years and will examine how different experiences impact youth as they transition into adulthood after leaving high school.
