We are pleased to host the Commodities, the Economy and
Money Conference. This major event is
taking place at a time when many people are concerned about the effects that
commodity prices may have on Canada and other economies. The Bank of Canada has a long-standing
interest in how commodity prices impact the framework for, and the conduct of,
monetary policy. The Haskayne School of
Business is dedicating significant teaching and research resources on the
natural resources sector.
The conference will bring together central bankers,
academics and leaders from the private sector for a discussion of the economic
issues facing Alberta, Canada and
resource-rich economies around the world.
The caliber of the speakers is unparalleled, featuring key
individuals who make monetary policy, drive commodity markets and teach and
write on macro-economic issues. Leaders
of companies that power the Canadian economy while dealing with volatile
commodity prices will also take part.
The Commodities, the Economy and Money Conference will focus
on the major trends in commodity markets and the policies that will affect the
future performance of Canadian companies and the Canadian economy.
Calgary is the best place to hold this discussion given the
global scale of investments in energy production and transportation.
We invite you to join us for a stimulating and important conference.
