Carol Stewart

Carol began serving as Special Advisor to the Dean (International Projects) on January 1, 2013, returning to her home department following an academic scholarship leave.

Previously, Carol served in university senior administration as the Vice-Provost (International) and the Provost’s Advisor on Collaborative Relations. Prior to these appointments, Carol served in the Haskayne School of Business as interim dean, vice-dean, and associate dean. Her areas of expertise include management communication, business/strategic planning, management education, organization development, and leadership and change.

Carol taught in the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Haskayne School of Business, which included international teaching assignments in South America and the Middle East. Her teaching focus was in the areas of management communication, management education, and leadership and change. Carol is the recipient of the 2001 Student Union Teaching Excellence Award for the Haskayne School of Business.

Carol was admitted to the Order of the University of Calgary in 2005 in recognition for her exemplary service in numerous administrative positions.

Prior to joining the university in 1982, Carol held management positions in western Canada in both retail and oil and gas industries. Also, she was actively involved in freelance consulting in the area of organizational development between 1981 and 1991.

Carol holds a master’s degree in international management/management learning and an undergraduate degree in commerce. She is actively involved in community volunteer activities, and has been recognized on a number of occasions for her contributions to the community, to education and to business.
