Bio

Dr. Amy Pablo is an Associate Professor in the Human Resources & Organizational Dynamics, and Strategy & Global  Management areas, both of which she served as area chair of during her tenure there.  She has been employed at the Haskayne School of Business since 1991, and due to her MS condidion, is currently on long-term disability from teaching, but continues with her research and publishing. 

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Wellesley College, an MBA in Finance from the University of Illinois, and a Ph.D. in Organization Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining Haskayne, Amy spent ten years in the energy sector where she  worked in controllers, planning and economics, and information  systems functions while on assignment in both the U.S. and overseas locations. 

Amy taught senior level strategy and human resources courses for undergraduate students, as well as courses in the MBA, Ph.D. and executive education programs.   From 1997 – 2000, she was director of the MBA in Enterprise Development program.  In 2004, she was named as the greatest contributor to the PhD program at the Haskayne School of Business, awarded by the PhD students.

Amy’s particular areas of research interest include corporate mergers & acquisitions, and the organizational decision making and changes that go along with being involved in such transactions.   Dr. Pablo  has also been involved in a $600,000 program of research that examines the impact of the regionalization of healthcare practices and services in Canada.

In 2008-2009, Dr. Pablo was named to the Cambridge Who’s Who Registry of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs.  She was also selected to appear in “Who’s Who in Canadian Business”, 2004 Edition, University of Toronto Press.    

Dr. Pablo was the most highly cited faculty member in the Haskayne School of Business for the year 2002 (as per The ISI Citation Index, Citation of Excellence, Highest Quality Rating for Research Implications by ANBAR Electronic Intelligence (Management Publications). 

Also in 2002, Dr. Pablo organized and chaired an international conference on mergers and acquisitions, the M&A Summit 2002.   Sponsored as a Strategic Management Society Mini-Conference, it attracted 170 participants from 13 countries, $152,000 in corporate funding, and $40,000 university funding.

She also serves on the Editorial Review Board of Organizational Dynamics., and is an ad hoc reviewer for the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Management.

While teaching, Amy regularly offered courses and seminars to public and private sector senior executives on the intiation, implementation and institutionalization of
