Operations and Supply Chain Management
Giovani da Silveira is Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Haskayne School of Business. He holds a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Warwick, a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He has held faculty positions with leading business schools in Latin America. Dr. da Silveira teaches operations management, operations strategy, and theory building in the PhD, DBA and Bachelor of Commerce programs.
Dr. da Silveira is a researcher in the areas of operations strategy, supply chain management, and mass customization. He has published numerous articles in the Journal of Operations Management, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, Technovation, and International Journal of Production Research, among other scholarly journals. He has co-edited (with Flavio Fogliatto) the book Mass Customization: Engineering and Managing Global Operations published by Springer-Verlag. He has more than 3600 citations to his work in Google Scholar. His research is supported by the Warren Dyer Fellowship in Advanced Supply Chain Management and Logistics.
Dr. da Silveira serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Operations Management and the International Journal of Operations and Production Management. He has won professional awards including the 2010 Outstanding Paper Award from the International Journal of Operations and Production Management for a paper with Brent Snider and Jaydeep Balakrishnan, the 2008 Chris Voss Highly Commended Award for a paper with Rui Sousa at the 15th International Annual EurOMA Conference in Groningen, and a 2007 Best Reviewers Award with the Journal of Operations Management.
