Bio

Loren Falkenberg is the associate dean (Strategic Initiatives) and a professor in the Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources area at the Haskayne School of Business. An expert in corporate social responsibility, Loren’s research interests focus on examining ethical and social responsibility issues in companies, and exploring the relationships between companies and not-for-profit organizations. Her current research is exploring how to companies can optimize value creation for both the company and community. 

Loren’s research has been published in many leading journals, including Journal of Business Ethics, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management and California Management Review.  She has also written a textbook and published chapters in edited books. She is currently an editor for the Journal of Business Ethics

In addition to her academic endeavors, Loren has consulted on corporate social responsibility programs and management of ethical issues for a number of companies, and acted as a facilitator for Boards and executive teams. She has also been a regular commentator on CBC on various issues in the Canadian business environment. 

Loren has been teaching business ethics and negotiations for more than 20 years, and has developed teaching materials for these courses in the undergraduate, graduate and executive education programs. She joined the Haskayne School of Business in 1986 . Prior to joining the University of Calgary, she taught at Queen’s University and Concordia University. She holds a PhD from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Queen’s University.
