Research in entrepreneurship and innovative fields is crucial for entrepreneurial thinking. The Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is proud to support University of Calgary faculty in these areas through a variety of programs and initiatives.

Haskayne Faculty Advancement Fund

The Faculty Advancement Fund has been developed to support faculty at the Haskayne School of Business in professional or academic development or to enhance the student experience through faculty engagement in activities relating to entrepreneurship and innovation.

Eligible activities may include, but are not limited to: support for academic or professional conferences, professional training courses, memberships in professional associations, travel support for faculty attendance at student competitions or related activities, or activities/programs/software that enhance the student experience in the classroom.

Haskayne Strategic Research Grant

The Hunter Centre Strategic Research Grant is for full-time faculty and instructors on continuing appointments in the Haskayne School of Business who are engaged in research related to entrepreneurship and innovation.

Innovator’s Toolkit Program Grant

The Innovator’s Toolkit Program Grant is a perfect way for University of Calgary faculty and post-doctoral students to take their idea to the next level.  The Hunter Centre will provide you with full funding to attend the Innovator’s Toolkit clinic at Innovate Calgary. Learn about everything from financing options to how to uncover your market!

The Innovator’s Toolkit Program is offered three times/year, in the Fall, Winter and Spring.

Peak Scholars

The University of Calgary Peak Scholars in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Knowledge Engagement is a community of scholars whose academic work in entrepreneurship, innovation, and knowledge engagement has made an impact.  The Office of the Vice-President Research manages and oversees the nomination and introduction processes for Peak Scholars. 

Peak Scholars are celebrated at the annual Peak Scholars Celebration event in November.

The Haskayne School of Business and the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation support academic entrepreneurship programs for faculty across campus. In addition to entrepreneurship focused programs and courses, the Hunter Centre supports a number of co-curricular seminars and workshops to inspire faculty in various aspects of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Creating Prosperity through Entrepreneurship - March 22, 2017

You are invited to join the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, in partnership with the Institute for Liberal Studies, for a keynote presentation that explores the absence of economic freedom in Africa and how entrepreneurship can help fuel an economy, through the workings of Magatte Wade, Founder and CEO of Tiossan.

Wade, a self-professed “African serial entrepreneur”, will delve into key strategies for creating economic growth in challenging climates and how North America can better support African entrepreneurs and the cause of economic freedom in Africa.

This speaker series, featuring iconic entrepreneurs, is focused on entrepreneurial thinking. It engages the audience in conversations about strategic and tactical decisions that featured entrepreneurs faced, and provides insight into the resulting impact on their entrepreneurial journey.
