Giovani Caetano da Silveira

Giovani da Silveira is a professor of Operations Management at the Haskayne School of Business. He holds a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Warwick, a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He has held faculty positions with leading business schools in Latin America. He currently serves as Chair of the Operations Management Area. Dr. da Silveira teaches operations management, operations strategy, and service operations in the school's B.Comm., MBA, PhD, and Executive programs.

Dr. da Silveira is a researcher in the areas of operations strategy, supply chain management, mass customization, and process improvement. He has published numerous articles in the Journal of Operations Management, International Journal of Production Research, and International Journal of Operations and Production Management, among other scholarly journals. He has co-edited (with Flavio Fogliatto) the book Mass Customization: Engineering and Managing Global Operations published by Springer-Verlag. He has more than 700 citations to his work on Google Scholar. His research is supported by a grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) to develop a program on supply chain integration for mass customization, and by the Warren & Marline Dyer Faculty Fellowship in Operations Management.

Dr. da Silveira serves as Associated Editor of Journal of Operations Management and as editorial board member of the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, among other journals. He is a member of INFORMS, POMS, and EurOMA. He has won professional awards including the 2010 Outstanding Paper Award from the International Journal of Operations and Production Management for a paper with Brent Snider and Jaydeep Balakrishnan, the 2008 Chris Voss Highly Commended Award for a paper with Rui Sousa at the 15th International Annual EurOMA Conference in Groningen, and a 2007 Best Reviewers Award with the Journal of Operations Management.
