Sharaz Khan joined the Haskayne School of Business in September 2008 as an Instructor of MIS. He holds a Master's in Health Management Systems from Rush University, Chicago, IL and a Master's in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is also an Industry Research Fellow with the Informatics Research Centre. Sharaz is a mentor for students engaged in MIS projects and facilitates their skills development for external business case competitions. As well, currently, he is a CIO with a Calgary-based organization.
Sharaz's focus is on the alignment of business vision and objectives to strategic technology project implications. This includes operational systems as well as emerging systems. Secondly, how can industry and academia play a much greater role in forming partnerships for the advancement of society – strengthening relationships with C-level executives in the business community is vital to fulfill any research missions the university has. Sharaz is also interested in bridging the gap between international knowledge base in health care information systems in the developing world with the developed world. His other research interests include public policy and strategic and performance frameworks for non-profit organization.
