We take care of all administrative issues so you don’t have unproductive time and you have the support you need to be successful in the program. We ensure that your laptop is wired into our network of research and learning resources. Our reference librarian saves you time by helping you find sources of information quickly and efficiently. To make sure you master the material, we also offer individual or group tutorial sessions.
Our program reference librarian helps you plan and execute search strategies. You will have 24-hour access to information on search strategies, requesting articles and books, document delivery, accessing databases and instruction guides, citing sources and other topics related to research and library services via the library web site. Special research workshops are held each weekend to update you on the latest research techniques and resource materials.
The Business library is a joint venture between the Haskayne School of Business and the University of Calgary Library. Located on the 3rd floor of Scurfield Hall, room 301, the Library offers access to more than 60 full text databases including journal articles from 6000 business journals, company financials and reports, international newspapers, an up-to-date reference collection, and the Bloomberg Online Service.
EMBA students can request information assistance at the reference desk, by e-mail, telephone and instant messaging. Library staff offer course related instruction, tours, workshops and online tutorials to introduce students to specific information resources. Visit the special collection of library resources available for EMBA students.
Our classroom is designed with a network infrastructure to support in-class use of computer technology. You will use a variety of computer software packages that support word-processing, accounting, spreadsheets, statistical analysis and presentations. Email, the internet and group-ware applications facilitate communication among you, your classmates, and your professors. Information technology support staff provide a variety of installation and training services to support the software programs used in the program. Needless to say, you must have access to a laptop computer throughout the program.
Tutorial support is available, on an individual or group basis, for all courses in the curriculum. The tutorials are designed to accommodate student schedules and areas of interest. Typical tutorials include Accounting, Statistics and Finance.
For those looking for new opportunities, we offer placement services and career counseling. We also offer one-on-one career coaching for those interested, both during the 2-year program and for a year following graduation.
