Official transcripts

One set of official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions you attended. Original documents or certified true copies of each of your official transcripts and degree certificates, in the original sealed envelope, sent directly from the issuing university to the SEDV program office. Supplying your complete educational history is the applicant's (your) responsibility; we will not review an incomplete application nor provide a grace period following the submission deadline if transcripts are late due to this reason. If at any time it is discovered that a student was admitted on the basis of falsified documents or information, the admission will immediately be declared null and void and future admission will be denied.

Please do not send your transcripts in advance of submitting the online application, this is how transcripts are lost.

If original documents are not in English: Original documents or certified true copies of each of your official transcripts and degree certificates in the original language, in the original sealed envelope, sent directly from the issuing University, and an English translation from the issuing University or a notarized word-for-word English translation of a duplicate copy of that original.

Two letters of reference

References will be sent a link for their online submission once you submit your application. We require 1 academic and 1 professional reference (direct reports to supervisor or manager) for a complete application. If you have been absent from studies for 5 years or more, 2 professional references will suffice; however only under these circumstances. Please note the email addresses provided for your referees should be professional addresses; free email account addresses will not be accepted.

Letters from friends, family, colleagues, fellow church members, clergy and current or past SEDV students and general reference letters are not acceptable; these types of letters will neither be reviewed nor kept on file.

Choose your referees wisely to ensure they will provide positive feedback prior to the submission deadline.

Proof of English Proficiency (if required)

As part of the University of Calgary Admissions Process, all applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. Test scores must be sent directly to the SEDV program office from the issuing institution. More information on this requirement can be found on the Faculty of Graduate Studies website and on the general university admissions page for exception information.
