Transforming the Student Experience

Developing new courses for undergraduate and MBA programs is critical to the Westman Centre’s success. The Centre is leveraging the enormous expertise in the region by inviting key real estate industry leaders to develop and teach its courses, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge to meet industry needs.

The Westman Centre is in the process of developing additional courses that will allow BComm students to declare a concentration and MBA students to hold a specialization in real estate studies. Our graduates will be well trained in the business of development and real estate, and be on track to become critical thinkers and leaders in the industry. The full complement of required courses are anticipated to be offered in the 2017/2018 academic year. These courses will be taught by industry experts and faculty at Haskayne School of Business who have been keen to expose students to this exciting industry.

The Westman Centre has also initiated plans that will further grow student interest and engagement in this program through scholarship opportunities and student focused industry events.

Haskayne Student Experiences Fund

The Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business, the Hunter Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies are proud partners in the Haskayne Student Experiences Fund. This fund was developed to enable students to participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities to support their learning and development.

Case Competitions

Case competitions are a valuable tool for students to test their academic knowledge and apply it to real world situations and problems. By competing, students receive prize monies and in-kind support, and most importantly showcase their innovations to the real estate industry community.
The Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies supports case competitions by hosting and providing support to real estate student teams competing in case competitions.
