Risk Studies Centre (RSC)

The purpose of the Risk Studies Centre at the Haskayne School of Business is to create and disseminate knowledge that improves the understanding of risk, and improves the practice of risk management. We improve management practice by working with other agencies, centres and institutes dedicated to similar ends.

Research

The Risk Studies Research Centre's mandate is to:

  • conduct, promote and support basic and applied research
  • develop and deliver educational programs
  • establish an Information Resource Service

We achieve results by administering financial support for research, promoting graduate research programs and making our information library available to researchers, students & practitioners.

Financial support for research

The Centre administers grants, fellowships and scholarship programs to support research on risk and risk management conducted at the Haskayne School of Business. While preference will be given to research projects that deal with issues of risk theory, risk perception, risk communication and risk financing, other topic areas will be considered as well.

Graduate research programs

The Centre promotes graduate research programs at the PhD and Masters levels. It facilitates and contributes to the development and delivery of appropriate training programs for insurance agents and brokers, risk mangers, public policy makers and others with an interest in the process of risk management.
