Cell phone service disruption

Message to University of Calgary community on Nov. 15, 2021 at 4:05 p.m.

Please be advised you may experience temporary disruption to your cell phone service.

Heavy rains have set off flooding, rock and mudslides in southern British Columbia, closing roads and causing power outages. It has also created challenges with various telecommunications services in Western Canada. UCalgary’s preferred vendor Rogers has noted that it is being impacted by weather conditions in BC. Other cell phone carriers are also reporting impacts.

UCalgary has been advised that service is intermittent at this time. Should you experience an emergency and need to contact 9-1-1 or Campus Security, please try a landline or borrow a phone from someone on another network to ensure a connection.
