2009 MAX Award winner announced

George Gosbee—Chairman, President and CEO of Tristone Capital Inc.— has been named the winner of the Haskayne School of Business’s 2009 Management Alumni Excellence (MAX) Award.

George Gosbee—Chairman, President and CEO of Tristone Capital Inc.— has been named the winner of the Haskayne School of Business’s 2009 Management Alumni Excellence (MAX) Award. Gosbee has a BComm (’93) and is a member of the Management Advisory Council, an advisory group to the Dean.The MAX Award recognizes the outstanding success of Haskayne alumni, celebrating personal achievement and extraordinary service to the School and the community.

In addition to his roles at Tristone—which was recently acquired by the Macquarie Group and will be integrated into Macquarie’s acquisitions and divestitures group, branded as Macquarie Tristone—Gosbee is the Vice-Chairman of the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, a Government of Alberta fund, and is on the Government of Canada’s Economic Advisory Council. He is a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and a board member of the Alberta Economic Development Authority. He was recently named one of 200 Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum.  

“George Gosbee is an exemplary Haskayne graduate,” says Leonard Waverman, Dean of the Haskayne School of Business. "He's had outstanding success as a business leader at a very young age. His expertise is recognized not only locally and nationally but internationally as well. His recent naming by the World Economic Forum as one of 200 Young Global Leaders and his appointment to the Chrysler board are just two examples. He is very deserving of the MAX Award.”

Gosbee will receive the MAX Award at a presentation ceremony to be held on November 9, 2009.
