University of Calgary Convocation

Celebrating 50 years of transformation, innovation and impact

From June 6 to June 10, thousands of students at the University of Calgary marked the end of one journey and the beginning of another, as they proudly crossed the convocation stage and received their degrees. It was the convocation day for BComm and MBA students to celebrate their huge success with friends and family.

Anita Lee, walked the stage and was proud to finally receive her BComm degree with a marketing concentration. She is amazed by her personal and professional growth that developed throughout her university career and wishes to share, "One big takeaway from my university experience that I gained is that failure can be a good thing that should be embraced. Experiencing failure and having to pick myself back up again changed me as a person. I grew more confident in my own abilities and this confidence allowed me to overcome the challenges that I was being faced with, which gives me reassurance that I will be able to overcome whatever future challenges lie ahead of me”.

This day was a way of reflecting for one’s journey as a student at the University of Calgary. “Convocation made me really think and reflect about my own journey at Haskayne, the countless number of late night hours and hard-work finally made it a fulfilling moment. I realized that I couldn’t have made it this far without the support of Haskayne Faculty; that was the moment when I made myself a promise that I would support the student community in my capacity and share my knowledge wherever I step out into the business world”, says Yashasvi Sirigineedi, University of Calgary MBA alumna.

The convocation was a huge success as families and guests gathered to watch students finishing their degree and crossing the stage. They’re officially a lifetime member of the UCalgary Alumni Association, a worldwide community of more than 170,000 alumni. Learn more about convocation and being an alumni here. Congratulations again to all of our Haskayne graduates, the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL) wishes everyone the best for all their future endeavours.
