Student-centric Classrooms

Student-centric Classrooms

Considerable thought was put into the design of Mathison Hall’s 12 new classrooms with student engagement at the forefront. Two classrooms are pod-style theatres (shown on the left), which provide opportunity for classroom group work. Another two classrooms are high-tech, boasting 50-inch TV screens at every single table. Students can leverage these technologies to collaborate, allowing for enhanced group work and more dynamic presentations. All classrooms are “future-proofed” with the latest technology such as built-in audio and video capabilities – making video conferencing with notable guest speakers from around the world an effortless possibility.

Unique spaces

Unique spaces

Mathison Hall was designed to be an inclusive and welcoming home for the Haskayne community. It includes the Viewpoint Circle for Dialogue, an 84-person room that will bring people together for important discussions, lessons and gathering. The room has ventilation to allow for Indigenous smudging ceremonies and was designed to be transparent, flexible and open for many uses. Students can also find reprieve next to the warm fireplace on the second floor or catch up with classmates on the social staircase between courses.
