Mentoring can be a crucial tool to help you grow as a business professional and transition from university life to the business world. A mentorship relationship provides you with an invaluable opportunity to work closely with a person already working in your future field, possibly increasing your career opportunities and accelerating your personal development. Your mentor can act as sounding board, provide impartial advice, share career experiences and help build your professional network.
A successful mentorship relationship is dependent on the amount of time and effort that a mentor and mentee put into creating a great experience. Mentees are expected to meet with their mentors at least six times throughout the academic year (September – April). Mentees are the driver of the relationship; they are expected to plan and organize meeting dates with their mentors. Six meetings is only a minimum requirement; we encourage additional touch-in with your mentors. Your mentorship meetings can include:
- Lunch meetings
- Attending a Haskayne School of Business speaker series
- Workplace visits
- Phone calls/video conferencing
- Job shadowing
Please note, registering for the program is not a guarantee that you will be matched with a mentor.
Early registration open until May 15, 2017. Register here.
