ScaleUp

Haskayne ScaleUp powered by CDL-Rockies

Filling a gap in the ecosystem by supporting scaling Canadian companies with building leadership and managerial capacity.

ScaleUp builds capacity for Canadian companies to compete globally

Haskayne ScaleUp, powered by CDL-Rockies, is a mentorship program for executive leadership teams of commercial-stage companies that need to execute against aggressive growth milestones by scaling vision, leadership capabilities, and processes.

ScaleUp is an opportunity for executive teams to think through and plan for hyper-growth. Teams step away from the day-to-day, into facilitated offsites, and work with experienced mentors to execute their scale-up agenda. In this focused environment, teams will refine its capabilities and align processes to accelerate scalable growth.

The biggest objective for us in ScaleUp was to make sure we were the highest performing team we could possibly be. Spending time on the business rather than in the business, alongside the mentors helped us pay attention to our blind spots. We needed to spend the time looking up and out rather than just down and in.

Strategic vision and alignment

Alignment on a well-defined, results-driven, strategic vision for growth and expansion.

Scalable processes

A clear understanding of both the company and customer unit economics while developing repeatable processes aligned with your strategy. These strategies should be operationalized throughout the program.

Established infrastructure of culture

Cohesive language and company culture that is reflected in a team composition ready to drive revenue.

Community

Joining an enhanced network of Canadian scaling companies, mentors, partners and community members who will support you through the program and beyond.

Effective governance practices

How to engage with and leverage your board and other advisors to maximize your chances of success.

Enhanced leadership skills

Improved leadership capabilities and self-awareness—including emotional intelligence, decision-making, feedback exchange, and conflict resolution—and the confidence to apply these skills effectively.

When you’re in a room with individuals who have scaled billion-dollar companies, their guidance counts a lot. ScaleUp mentors have the rare experience to speak on what a business can and should look like at different stages of growth. Their guidance was invaluable for our business.

Going from founder-led to team-led, really building a team that can execute and do what they said they would do —that maturity some teams go through is the best predictor of success for a business, and it’s a key element in an investment decision. That’s at the core of what ScaleUp builds.

We have a team of mentors at ScaleUp that have to work like a team. Companies get a very rich opportunity to learn and there’s nothing more powerful than learning as you’re scaling. And it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve done it before.
