RIT Client

The RIT Client is the connection to the RIT simulations.

RIT Client Documentation

The RIT Client is rich in features that help the user monitor, analyze and trade the simulation.

To open the RIT Client click on the RIT 2.0 Client icon found on a Lab computer desktop.  Enter a UserID and a password then click on New User if this is the first you are logging on to the server.  Reenter your password and your first and last name (they can be anything you chose). You will get a screen that looks like this. The server is the IP address of the RIT simulation server.  It and the port will be supplied by the administrator of the simulation.  After you have signed on for the first time, you only need to enter your UserID and password.

The features of the RIT Client are detailed in the Rotman document here.

RTD Documentation

The RTD link connects the RIT Client and Excel.  This allows the user to move information from the RIT Client to Excel.  That allows the user to analyze the extracted data to help construct a trading strategy.

The features of the RTD Link can be found here.

RIT Client Tips

The items you can add to your RIT Client workspace can be moved and resized like any Windows item.  A few tips are:

  • Portfolio is one of the most important items you should have on your workspace.  It details what your security positions are, what their cost is, and what realized and unrealized profit and loss your have incurred.
  • Most market information comes to you in a news item.  News is very important item to have on your workspace.
  • Order entry is one way to buy and sell securities.  Note that the + sign in the upper right corner will allow you to add additional lines to allow one for buying and the other for selling.
  • Charts are very useful to monitor the market.  You can use a formula in the securities box to chart the relationship between two securities.
  • The Default tab in the lower right contains a drop down menu which allows you to save or load your workspace.  When you sign back on to the simulation you can reload your workspace so you do not need to reconstruct it each time you logon.
