Your pathway into a career in finance
You may already have the analytical ability finance employers are looking for. What you may be missing is the specialized finance knowledge to put those skills to work. The Haskayne Master of Finance (MFin) can help bridge that gap. By developing deeper expertise in areas such as financial modelling, trading, quantitative finance and fintech, you can position yourself for technical roles that demand more than a general understanding of business or finance.
For recent graduates, that can mean a faster path into finance. For early-career professionals, it can mean developing the expertise needed to move from a general banking or financial role into a more specialized career.

Build a career in an evolving financial hub
Calgary offers something valuable for an emerging finance professional: access to an established financial sector alongside a rapidly developing fintech community. That means you can build connections across traditional and emerging areas of finance while studying in Western Canada's only dedicated MFin program.
Gain experience before graduating
Your first finance job isn't the only opportunity to build your network. Industry connections are woven throughout the Haskayne experience, including work-integrated learning and industry events. A paid internship or research consulting project gives you an opportunity to build relationships and gain experience that can strengthen your transition into the workforce.
What is the capstone or work-integrated learning project?
Choose between a paid professional internship in finance that culminates in a professional report, or a research consulting project that involves applied research on a real finance problem.
Does the MFin prepare me for further graduate studies?
Yes. Graduates gain the theory, econometrics, and research exposure that provide a solid base for a PhD (with appropriate research interests and preparation).
