At Haskayne, we’re a place for transformative change – where our students come for major and meaningful career or personal development. Understanding the pivotal role we play in providing an environment for change, it is important that we foster a culture where our professional staff can also flourish and grow.
We recognize that professional development opportunities for professional staff contribute to the overall success of the business school but are sometimes limited. The intent of this program is to provide AUPE and MaPS staff with the opportunity for professional development beyond the support offered through the Employee Tuition Support benefits available through the University of Calgary.
These Professional Development Guidelines are intended to supplement and provide compensation in a consistent manner to staff to attend conferences, workshops, take online courses or access other activities with the goal of improving skills and techniques, gaining new knowledge and abilities, networking with professionals doing similar work at other institutions, or other activities that provide professional development.
AUPE or MaPS employees
AUPE or MaPS employees with regular, limited or fixed term appointments who have completed 6 months of continuous service in a benefit eligible position may apply for professional development activities.
Non-UCalgary courses
When applying to attend professional development activities outside of those offered through the UCalgary tuition support program, applicants must be able to show how the opportunity will benefit them either in their current work or how it may be of possible future benefit to Haskayne.
UCalgary courses
If an employee wishes to take a course at the University of Calgary, they must follow the steps as outlined on the Employee Tuition Support webpage.
