Teaching and Learning
The Office of Teaching and Learning is led by the Associate Dean Teaching and Learning, and is comprised of the Teaching and Learning Specialist, a Community Based Learning Advisor, Teaching and Learning Analyst, two Teaching and Learning Coordinators (TLCs), and two Teaching and Learning Administrators (TLAs). Teaching and Learning Coordinators and Administrators provide technical training and administrative support for faculty and staff, facilitating learning solutions to enable change, build technical capacity and help faculty and students achieve course learning and program outcomes.

Scott Radford
Interim Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning

Scott Radford is Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning and Associate Professor (Marketing) in the Haskayne School of Business. His research interests are in the area of consumer culture theory, product design and innovation, environmental sustainability, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. His work has appeared in the Journal of Product Innovation Management, European Journal of Marketing, Marketing Letters, and Journal of Consumer Culture.
Lisa Bensmiller

Lisa came to us after 16 years with the U of C’s Schulich School of Engineering. Lisa earned her Office Administration diploma from SAIT and has a certificate of Office Applications from the U of C. Lisa is enthusiastic about providing high level administrative support to the Teaching and Learning team and academics within the Haskayne School of Business.
Jenn Hauck
Manager, Teaching and Learning Operations

Jenn has been with the Haskayne School of Business since 2006 and before starting her current role, has been an Area administrator, an Undergraduate Program Specialist, and Haskayne’s Course Demand & Scheduling Specialist.
In her present role of Manager of Teaching and Learning Operations, Jenn’s team includes Haskayne’s Course Demand & Scheduling Specialist who supports the faculty with course demand analysis and course scheduling coordination, and the Teaching & Learning Administrators who support the faculty with most things related to teaching in the classroom.
Dave Hawes
Learning Technologies Specialist

Dave brings over 17 years of work experience at the University of Calgary to the Haskayne School of Business. This includes stops at the Faculty of Nursing, the Teaching & Learning Centre, and Continuing Education. Previous to his joining the Haskayne Teaching & Learning Team, he served as Manager, Learning Services in Cont Ed. In this role, he and his team were responsible for the design and implementation of supports for effective teaching and best use of learning technologies, for both instructors and learners across all learning platforms at the U of C. Dave holds an M.Ed. (2019) from the Werklund School of Education, focusing on learning sciences, post-secondary leadership, and educational research. He also has completed certification in Developing a Curriculum (DACUM) Level I, and Tri-Council Policy CORE. Dave has a strong service orientation to his work and is happy to best serve the learning technology interests of faculty and staff at Haskayne.
Carol Hoover
Specialist, Scheduling and Course Demand

Carol has worked at the University of Calgary since 2006, and brings experience from a variety of areas. Carol began as a Program Advisor in the Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO) before moving to the Faculty of Science. Carol held various roles in the Faculty of Science, most recently as the Undergraduate Administrative Team Lead. Carol’s team supported all Science undergraduate programs, including scheduling and enrollment management for all Science courses. Carol was thrilled to bring her experience in scheduling to the Haskayne School of Business in July 2022. In her current role as Specialist, Scheduling and Course Demand, she is focussed on applying best practices to the Haskayne schedule and creating a schedule that best serves both students and instructors. Carol has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Calgary and recently completed the Business Intelligence Foundations Program Certificate.
Jessica Mill
Teaching and Learning Administrator

Jessica has been employed by the University of Calgary since 2007 in various capacities. After her years as a University of Calgary student, she started off as an Administrative Assistant in Civil Engineering before ending up with the Cumming School of Medicine where she worked in Research and Administration for many years. While in Medicine, Jessica played integral roles as a Researcher in a number of long term Research Studies, including but not limited to, the Canadian Longitudinal Studying of Aging (CLSA Study), the APrON Study, and the Tarrant Study. Jessica has completed certification in the Tri Council Policy Core and the Canadian Good Clinical Practice. Jessica's role within Teaching and Learning focuses on providing crucial administrative support to academic faculty.
Sarah Patience

Sarah has a certificate in Health Information from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Haskayne, she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Cumming School of Medicine and as a Payroll Administrator in a Long-Term Care facility. Sarah’s portfolio within Teaching and Learning at Haskayne focuses on teaching and learning administrative support for faculty, as well as the implementation and support of various educational technologies. Her areas of interest are innovative technology-enhanced learning solutions and developing effective online learning.
Victoria Reid
Teaching and Learning Specialist

Victoria holds a Bachelor of Education as well as a Master’s of Education. Prior to joining Haskayne, she was a high school teacher in Edmonton as well as a high school teacher and school administrator at a California charter school. Victoria focuses on long-term strategic projects in the Office of Teaching and Learning, and is responsible for coordinating the Assurance of Learning process for Haskayne’s AACSB accreditation as well as facilitating the curriculum mapping process within the faculty. She is also responsible for the curation of professional development opportunities within the faculty. Victoria’s area of SoTL interest is in formative and summative assessment practices, and best practices for the development and evaluation of program-level goals and outcomes.
