2022 bp Trading Competition

Join the bp Canada Trading Competition and see first-hand how these traits can give you an edge when it comes to energy trading.

This competition provides an incredible experiential learning opportunity for students from across the University of Calgary campus. BP Canada employees, including energy traders, will come together with faculty and students for a full day of learning and networking.

Prize: The top trader and top rookie will receive $1,000 each.

A $10 non-refundable fee is required for entry into the competition. All fees collected will be donated to a local food bank. If you cannot attend the competition, you may transfer your registration to another student.

Please note: The competition is limited to the first 60 students that apply. Deadline to register is September 28, 2022. Students from all UCalgary faculties are welcome.

Practice Sessions:

In advanced of the competition on October 1, we'll be offering five drop-in practice sessions so you can learn how the trading software works.

Practice sessions and locations are as follows.

  • September 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. in SH183
  • September 26, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. in SH362 (trading lab)
  • September 27, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. in SH362 (trading lab)
  • September 28, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. in SH362 (trading lab)
  • September 29, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. in SH362 (trading lab)
  • September 30, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. in SH362 (trading lab)
