Partner with Haskayne students to tackle some of your organization’s business challenges. Haskayne students can combine fresh perspectives with recent learnings to provide your business or non-profit with innovative business strategies and solutions. These services are provided to you free of charge and in exchange students get to work on real-life cases that will further enrich their learning experiences.

Haskayne currently has consulting projects for the following courses:

We are looking for organizations to provide a small team of fourth- and fifth-year Haskayne Bachelor of Commerce students with a process improvement project. Students will provide research on your challenge and offer you with solutions. Students in this course have successfully completed multiple operations management, supply chain management, and/or business analytics courses.

Students will work on one project throughout a semester (approximately 120 hours) to:

  • Analyze and research the process challenge (may involve interviewing, library and internet research and data collection/analysis) under a faculty advisor’s insight and guidance
  • Propose solutions and create a course of action
  • Present their final project/recommendations (orally and in writing) to the client organization

Projects selected for this course must:

  • Involve a specific process improvement challenge for the organization
  • Be decision-oriented
  • Have data already available and/or allow for data collection (interview and/or observation

Organizations are expected to:

  • Provide a project lead for the student team who can provide consistent guidance/communication over the semester (weekly or bi-weekly meetings).
  • Share any relevant organization data and information with the students early in the project
  • Assist the students in setting up interviews with staff involved in the challenge

Please note, not all submitted projects will be selected. Selection is based on the instructor’s determination of suitability and student interest.

We are looking for organizations to provide a small team of fourth- and fifth-year Haskayne Bachelor of Commerce students with a challenge relating to technological processes or strategies. Under your direction, students will provide you with research on a technological solution for internal or external operations.

In today’s digital economy, business professionals must learn how to use information technology (IT) innovatively. Student teams will be assigned to organizations in Calgary and the surrounding area to solve specific IT issues and experience firsthand the real-world demands of an IT project.

Students will work on one project throughout a semester (approximately 120 hours of student time) to:

  • Analyze and research the IT challenge (may involve interviewing, library and internet research and data collection/analysis)
  • Propose solutions and create a course of action
  • Present their final project/recommendations (orally and in writing) to the client organization

Projects selected for this course must:

  • Involve a specific IT strategy or technical issue for the organization
  • Be decision oriented
  • Provide value, both to the organization’s development and to the students
  • Be stable enough to avoid the risk of premature “project obsolescence”

Organizations are expected to:

  • Provide a project lead for the student team who can provide consistent guidance/communication over the 4-month semester. Includes attending a project kick-off class, as well as a final presentation class.
  • Share any relevant organizational data and information with the students early in the project
  • Assist the students in setting up interviews with staff involved in the challenge

We are looking for organizations to provide Haskayne MBA students with business challenges. Working in teams of 2-3, students will provide solutions to your unique business needs. Students in this course demonstrate the value of applying theory and concepts learned during their MBA studies to the completion of a strategic project for a local organization.

Students will work on one project throughout a semester (approximately 100 hours) to:

  • Analyze and research the challenge (may involve interviewing, library and internet research and data collection/analysis)
  • Propose solutions that leverage organization resources
  • Plan an interdisciplinary course of action to solve the managerial challenge
  • Present their final project/recommendations (orally and in writing) to the client organization

Projects selected for this course must:

  • Involve a strategic issue for the organization
  • Be decision oriented
  • Provide value, both to the organization’s development and to the student
  • Be stable enough to avoid the risk of premature “project obsolescence”

Organizations are expected to:

  • Provide a project lead for the student team who can provide consistent guidance/communication over the semester
  • Share any relevant organization data and information with the students early in the project (confidentiality forms provided)
  • Assist the students in setting up interviews with staff involved in the challenge
