Dr. Gina Grandy, Dean of the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of business education with extensive expertise in strategy and leadership.

The Dean’s List of Haskayne’s Top 10 Accomplishments 2024-25

  1. We released our new three-year strategic plan and are on our way to delivering on the strategic priority, Future Focused Student Learning and Engagement.
  2. We signed a three-year Partnership with Ivey Publishing to co-author and publish 20 teaching cases on Creative Destructive Lab Rockies (CDL-Rockies) alumni companies.
  3. Haskayne hosted the JDC-West Case Competition and brought home 5 awards, won gold at the prestigious Rotman International Trading Competition and a 1st place finish at the global Innovation Olympics Consulting Competition.
  4. As the first university in Western Canada to partner with the Chartered Business Valuators (CBV) Institute, Haskayne Finance students can take a new course that counts towards their CBV designation.
  5. Award-winning Faculty members were recognized for their exemplary contributions including Rosalynn Peschl and Hussein Warsame for teaching, Alain Verbeke as Haskayne’s first Royal Society of Canada Fellow, and Bob Schulz with the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
  6. The Haskayne Business Exchange, brought Haskayne researchers and industry experts together in two engaging forums this year: Scepticism and Sustainability, and Healthy Workplaces.
  7. In a record year for research excellence, Haskayne researchers secured nearly $2M across 13 grants from national research agencies, on par with elite schools with much larger faculties.  That’s a big wow!
  8. On the 25th anniversary of the Haskayne Alumni Awards, we honoured: Madison Savilow, BComm’19 for her work in the cleantech industry;  Nabeel Ramji, BComm‘08 for addressing urban accessibility with dignity, and Dr. Michael Guiffre, BSc’77, MD’84, EMBA’01 for contributions to pediatric healthcare, biotechnology and mentoring.
    We also cheered from the stands as Haskayne alum Deanna Zumwalt, BComm‘93 and Lisa Oldridge, MBA '98 brought us Calgary Wild FC, Calgary’s first professional women’s soccer team.
  9. This year the Haskayne-BMO Mentorship Program had a record 376 mentor-mentee matches — over 750 participants — coordinated by the Haskayne Centres.
  10. This year, with the ongoing support of our partners at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and the Calgary Foundation we honoured Bryan de Lottinville, Founder and Chief Enthusiast of Benevity, Inc. With the Inspiring Business Leader Award for his commitment to business for good via the profitable and purpose-driven tech company.

Strategic Plan 2025-2027

Under the leadership of Dean Grandy, and following an extensive consultation process, Haskayne developed a transformative three-year Strategic Plan, aligned with UCalgary’s Ahead of Tomorrow strategic plan. This plan builds on Haskayne’s strengths, with actionable strategic priorities focused on preparing tomorrow’s leaders.
