Osman Alp
Osman Alp’s research interests include prescriptive analytics applications in supply chain management, logistics, and sustainable operations. He also conducts research in eliminating discrimination and bias in Machine Learning algorithms. His has numerous publications in reputable journals including Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, and Transportation Science.
Marco Bijvank
Marco's research interests focus on supply chain management, retail operations, health care operations and revenue management. The goal of his research is to reduce the gap between theory and practice in logistics activities, and to increase the understanding of the dynamics inherent in practical settings. Most of his work focuses on applying operation research techniques and deriving more powerful algorithms and more effective heuristic approaches for realistic models. One of the important aspects to test the applicability of the solution techniques is verification through case studies. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research and Journal of the Operational Research Society.
Duy Dao
Duy Dao’s research broadly spans the economics of software and digital goods, with interests in the economics of cybersecurity and the motion picture industry. He has published in leading academic journals including Marketing Science and Management Science.
Serasu Duran
Serasu Duran’s research is focused on sustainable and energy-related operations. Her current work investigates the integration of new supply and consumer-side technologies, such as distributed renewable energy sources and demand-response programs, into traditional electricity supply chains via data-driven and empirical methods. She joined Haskayne School of Business in 2018 after receiving her Ph.D. in Operations Management from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Hooman Hidaji
Hooman Hidaji is an assistant professor of Business Technology Management (BTM) at Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. Hooman’s current research interests include economics of information systems, economics of information privacy, information systems security, ICT supply chains, and social network propagation. He uses a wide set of methodologies in his research, including economic modeling, game theory, optimization, mathematical programming, and econometrics.
Barrie Nault
Barrie R. Nault's current research is on how information technology (IT) affects information sharing and productivity in supply chains. In addition, he examines IT policy issues related to privacy, data portability, and fee-for-service Internet. He also studies ownership, incentives, membership and investment in platforms. He has recent work on public safety networks, on blockchain and e-commerce, and in incentives for new energy technology such as the Smart Grid. He has published over 25 articles in leading academic journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and others.
Ray Patterson
Ray Patterson's primary research interests include information systems, analytics, and quantitative decision and artificial intelligence technologies. Ray has published extensively in premier journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences Journal, Decision Support Systems, Geographic Information Science, and many others. Ray has served as the co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Information Technology and Management since 2013, and serves as Associate Editor for Decision Sciences Journal. Ray has over 20 years of experience working with organizations in several industries, including accounting, healthcare, transportation, telecommunications, resource management, and government. Ray has worked full-time as a staff-auditor for Ernst and Young in Toledo, Ohio, and as an accounting and IS supervisor in the construction industry. His experience includes a wide range of management areas.
Jian (Ray) Zhang
Jian (Ray) Zhang’s current research interests include information sharing in a make-to-order supply chain, behavioural-based discrimination, data analytics on platform mediated economy, and decentralized autonomous organizations (funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council). Before joining Haskayne School of Business, Ray Zhang worked at the stochastic mine planning laboratory, McGill University, focusing on applying the large-scale optimization methods to the plan a mineral value chain with the upstream resource uncertainty and the downstream market uncertainty.
