CCAL Leadership Ambassador Program

21 students join CCAL’s Leadership Ambassador Program. Learn how you can too.

Months ago it was just an idea and a few handpicked names — today it is a team of 21 students from the Haskayne School of Business. These students are a part of the CCAL Leadership Ambassadors Program, hosted by the Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business (CCAL).

CCAL Ambassadors spread awareness of leadership development initiatives to the Haskayne student body, as advocates and event supporters. The team of ambassadors is developing cohesiveness and members must be willing to step out of their comfort zone; over the summer, they participate together in team building activities, monthly discussions at the Leadership Roundtables and social events.

With help from this group of student ambassadors’, additional students were recruited to participate as student event volunteers, part of Service with CCAL. Volunteering at and contributing to these events provides these (Service with CCAL) students with unique experiences such as connections to volunteers, working with an event team, participating in a range of engaging events, and other opportunities such as learning from leaders. The objective engaging students in Service with CCAL is to provide each member with opportunities for students to build connections, confidence and capability while participating as a key member of the leadership community.

“The Ambassador program is unlike any other programs offered here at the University of Calgary. It gives individuals the chance to build on their skills on a personal level, with the help and support from the team, and other leaders. I joined the program to be more connected in Haskayne and I gained far more than that as I develop some lifelong relationships and taking part in many memorable experiences, like the Community for Advanced Leadership Celebration that I will hold close to my heart for the rest of my life,” says Zahra Husain, second year student at Haskayne, CCAL Leadership Ambassador.

Service with CCAL gives student volunteers at Haskayne information and experiences that allow them to grow in their own. By making students aware of the wide range development opportunities around them as well as giving them opportunity to participate alongside a community of their peers, we hope that even more students will take the initiative to participate in opportunities that will be of value to their growth, which they might previously have not chosen.
