How long will it take to complete the JD/MBA joint degree?

Students typically take four years to complete the JD/MBA.

How many classes will I take in each field?

Students complete a total of 15 MBA courses; the minimum number of required law credits is 83 (approx. 25 courses).

Do I still need work experience to apply?

A minimum of two years’ post-graduation professional experience is required; under exceptional circumstances, joint degree candidates who do not meet this requirement will be considered.

How many students are admitted into the joint program each year?

A total of around 20 students are admitted into a joint MBA program each year with up to 9 in the JD/MBA program.

What are the career opportunities for JD/MBA graduates?

Graduates of the JD/MBA program have secured opportunities in a range of legal, policy and commercial fields, including:

MBT/MBA (Masters of Biomedical Technology)

How long will it take to complete the MBT/MBA joint degree?

Students typically take four years to complete the MBT/MBA.

How many classes will I take in each field?

Students complete a total of 18 MBA courses and 11 science courses (33 credits).

Do I still need work experience to apply?

A minimum of two years’ post-graduation professional experience is required; under exceptional circumstances, joint degree candidates who do not meet this requirement will be considered.

How many students are admitted into the joint program each year?

A total of around 20 students are admitted into a joint MBA program each year with typically small numbers in the MBT/MBA program.


MD/MBA (Doctor of Medicine)

How long will it take to complete the MD/MBA joint degree?

Students typically take four years to complete the MD/MBA.

How many classes will I take in each field?

Students complete a total of 15 MBA courses (45 credit units) and 83 credit units for medicine.

Do I still need work experience to apply?

A minimum of two years’ post-graduation professional experience is required; under exceptional circumstances, joint degree candidates who do not meet this requirement will be considered.

How many students are admitted into the joint program each year?

A total of around 20 students are admitted into a joint MBA program each year with typically small numbers in the MD/MBA program.

MPP/MBA (Master of Public Policy)

How long will it take to complete the MPP/MBA joint degree?

Students typically take three years to complete the MPP/MBA.

How many classes will I take in each field?

Students complete a total of 17 MBA courses and 11 Public Policy courses. Students in the joint program would complete the two MPP Foundation courses, PPOL 601 and PPOL 603 in economics and empirical methods (these are included in the 11 PPOL courses).  PPOL 601 and PPOL 603 may be waived for students with adequate academic backgrounds in these areas. Student’s area of specialization would typically include: PPOL 613, PPOL 617, PPOL 607, PPOL 609, PPOL 615 and PPOL 619 and one elective. Up to one elective (non-core) and PPOL 605 (core) PPOL courses may be substituted with approval of the JD/MPP program committee, consisting minimally of the program directors of the two programs. In the Spring/Summer students would complete PPOL 621 and PPOL 623.
