Catalyst was the highlight of the Master of Management program, and it was one of the reasons why I chose Haskayne. Coming from a science background, I constantly felt like I was lacking in my soft skills and the ability to sell myself to others. Through Catalyst, I was able to gradually build the skills and confidence to clearly articulate my value to others. Without Catalyst, I would not have been able to build my personal brand, which is very important in the job market.

Gain work experience
Internship elective
Students may choose an internship elective to gain practical and paid work experience. Internships are full-time and 12-16 weeks long. Students are responsible for securing their own internships; however Catalyst helps prepare you for this.
Mitacs Business Strategy Internship funding is available to compensate students involved with innovation-based project internships.
Propel Business Projects
The Propel Business Project pairs MMgmt students with small businesses, new ventures, social enterprises and non-profits to provide business project support. Students gain first-hand business experience while applying their classroom knowledge to real-world projects. Students are compensated for their work with a grant offered by Haskayne. Read about the Propel experience from past participants.
Through my internship at Lumiio, a digital health company, I completed a competitive analysis that looked at real-world data. I used that data to develop strategic goals with Lumiio’s executive team. After my internship, Lumiio hired me as a full-time employee. This was definitely one of the most valuable opportunities provided to me through the Haskayne Master of Management program.
