Funding

The University of Calgary currently does not offer awards for incoming exchange students. The Canadian Government currently offers several awards for students from specific world regions. Information about these awards will be sent to your home university exchange advisor.

If you were to start your semester and then run into complications with your financial situation, please contact International Student Services for advice.

International Student Orientation

Our International Student Services team runs an orientation for all international students, including incoming exchange, during the first week of September for Fall term and the first week of January for Winter term. Though this orientation is optional, we strongly recommend all incoming exchange students attend.

IBSA Buddy Program

The International Business Students’ Association (IBSA) offers many great services to our students, including their Buddy Program. They pair incoming exchange students with local UCalgary students, as well as organize events and short trips in and around Calgary to help enhance your time here in our city. Please check their website for more information, and for the Buddy Program sign-up form.

International Student Services (ISS)

International Student Services (ISS) provides advice and programs to support all international students adjusting to studies at the University of Calgary and to life in Canada. For information, support and workshops be sure to check out their website.

Transcripts

You are responsible for ordering your official transcript at the end of your exchange term here. Our office is unable to order transcripts on behalf of students at this time, and we do not automatically send transcripts to partners upon completion of the exchange term. Detailed instructions for ordering transcripts can be found on the Office of the Registrar’s website. Students are able to order hard copies if required or preferred, and/or electronic official transcripts through MyCred.

Final exams

Final examinations/assessments can include a registrar-scheduled final exam, a take-home exam, term projects (individual and/or group), and/or oral exams. Registrar-scheduled final exams are held during the final exam period (check dates here), can be scheduled up until 10:00pm on the final day, and are mandatory. The schedule is typically released about one month after classes have started. Incoming exchange students should not book any return flights prior to the last possible day for final exams per the schedule linked above. Deferred exams are not typically available for incoming exchange students.
